LOCKWOOD FOLLY WOMEN'S CLUB

Recently several members participated in the "Comfort Pillow Project". The project entailed creating small pillows for women who will undergo mastectomy surgery. The pillows are utilized by the cancer patients to prevent rubbing at their surgical site(s). Dr. Mark Tillotson of Brunswick Surgical Associates will distribute these pillows to his pre-op patients. The service project was received with great enthusiasm when presented to the membership.

Women’s Club of Lockwood Folly

The Women’s Club of Lockwood Folly is one of Lockwood’s largest social organizations. The 2007/2008 membership is 105 ladies. It is a non-profit organization dedicated to the goal of promoting the social, cultural and educational interests of the members and to the advancement of the welfare of our community.
This year continues to be a very exciting time for the Women’s Club. Our monthly hostesses have out-done themselves in providing refreshments and seasonal decorations at our meetings!

We have had a variety of fascinating speakers.  Alan Holden, the Mayor of Holden Beach, shared his experiences growing up on the beach. Pat Gambarelli, author of ‘Pasta for Men Only’ shared a variety of cooking secrets.  An interesting program on weight management and general health was presented by Dr. Jeffrey Seder from Brunswick Cardiology and Carolina Center for Weight Management.

In addition to educational speakers, the Women’s Club celebrated the Christmas holiday with the annual cookie exchange, refreshments and entertainment by the 4Cs.
The 4C’s more formally know as the Coastal Carolina Casual Cordsmen are a popular local male quartet who performed to the delight of all.

The Women’s Club supports several Brunswick County non-profit organizations, to include the Literacy Council, Food Bank, Tree of Hope, Friends of the Lower Cape Fear Hospice and more.

The remaining meetings will feature the Crime Prevention Officer for the Brunswick Sheriffs Department and author and tour director Mark Smith, an experienced guide and traveler to Italy.

We meet the first Monday of the months of September through May in the Clubhouse at 7:00 P.M.  Our dues are just $15 a year.  For additional information concerning the Women’s Club contact Jan Kingston, President; Pat Morris, Vice President; Dianne Jackowski, Treasurer; or Jeanne Mavis, Secretary.
