Bunco

Bunco is open to all Lockwood Folly property owners.  Players meet the third Thursday of each month in the River Room from 7 – 9 PM.  No experience necessary to join the group!  Contact Laura to be added to the email list.

Couples Golf

All Lockwood Folly property owners are invited to play Couples Golf once a month on Wednesday afternoons, from April to October. Golf is followed by dinner in the Oak & Anchor.  A different game format is planned each month by the Golf Pro.  Regular golf fees apply, and your meal cost is paid directly to the restaurant.  In addition, a small fee is charged to cover prize money and the bag drop tip.

Fridays at 5

Fridays at 5 is a gathering of Lockwood Folly property owners, poolside. New and established residents are welcome to attend.  It is a great way to meet new people and spend time with friends.  Bring a dish to share, your own beverage (no glass around the pool, please), and a plate and utensils.  The group meets year-round, every Friday at 5 PM!

Garden Club

The Garden Glub of Lockwood Folly consists of experienced gardeners, inexperienced gardeners and gardeners new to our challenging growing environment.  The club meets the 2nd Wednesday of the month at varying venues.  The topics of interest are often generated by member’s suggestions.  The Garden Club engages in several projects throughout the year that enhances the beauty of our community.

Mahjong

Mahjong players meet in the library on Wednesdays from 1-4 PM.  New players are welcome to join this group!  No experience necessary.

Men’s Tennis

Property owners who are interested in participating in Men’s Tennis are welcome to join the group at the courts in Ackley Park. The men meet on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday at 9 AM for doubles tennis.

Men’s and Women’s Golf League

Golf league play requires membership in the Lockwood Folly Golf Course.  Please contact the Pro Shop for more information on the advantages of joining our beautiful golf course!

Pickleball

Pickleball courts are located in Ackley Park near the basketball court. Hours of play are Monday – Saturday from 8 AM to dusk. The courts are closed on Sunday. Approved quiet paddles are required.  Routine paddle checks are conducted.  Click below to ensure your paddle is approved:

Extra paddles and balls are available for your use located in the equipment box behind the courts.  

All Lockwood Folly residents and all levels of play are welcome, including those new to the game. Please wear court sneakers for your own safety.

Pin Pals Bowling League

Pin Pals is a competitive women’s league that meets at Planet Fitness in Shallotte on Wednesday mornings from 10 AM – 12 noon.  The season runs from September to April.  You can register as a team or sign up to be a sub.

Sit, Stitch & Sew

Anyone is welcome to join the Sit, Stitch, and Sew group on the first, third, and sometimes fifth Tuesday of each month at 10 AM in the Pool House.  Bring whatever you are working on such as hand sewing, knitting, crocheting, quilting, or quilling.  Sometimes the participants plan to teach each other a new project.  In the past they have made ornaments out of Styrofoam ovals using fabric and pins, folded stars out of 4” strips of material, and prairie point (squares that have been folded into triangles) seasonal hot plates.  The group usually ends at noon and goes to lunch together.

Strength Training

All Lockwood Folly property owners are invited to join the Strength Training classes in the River Room on Monday & Thursday mornings at 10:00 AM, October through April.  Please bring exercise bands and/or weights and an exercise mat.  No experience needed.  The group focus is on keeping our muscles strong as we mature.

Water Aerobics

Water aerobics meets in the pool on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 10 – 11 AM.  Classes start as soon as the water temperature reaches 77 degrees, which is usually sometime in May, and may continue into October if the weather cooperates!  Please bring water weights and a pool noodle.  The hour is usually broken into 3 sections which include stretching & cardio exercise, water weight exercises, and a great core workout. These classes are offered free of charge. The group enjoys an end of season luncheon/party poolside. Information about water aerobics and when it will start is shared through email blasts to the community.  Contact Nancy to be added to the email list.

Women’s Club

Property owners of Lockwood Folly are invited to join the Women’s Club, which meets the first Monday of each month from September through May at 7 PM in the River Room.  Members serve as President, VP, Secretary, and Treasurer.  Monthly programs are entertaining and informative and refreshments are served.  The Women’s Club is proud of the charitable work it does for Brunswick County.  Yearly dues are collected.

Women’s Tennis

Property owners who are interested in playing non-competitive women’s doubles tennis are welcome to join the group on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 8 AM weather permitting.  The tennis courts are located in Ackley Park.
